My son and I are loving busy bags at the moment. He gets really excited and spends hours playing with them. I'm finding they motivate me to do educational activities with him on days I am feeling lazy because there is no prep work involved. They've also been handy in the car and eating out at restaurants.
Here is what is in our bag this month:
1. Mr Potato Head Spud Buds:
Practice putting them together. For older children you could use a Mr Potato head and have them sort the body parts by type.
2. Finger puppets and board books
3. Alphabet book with velcro pictures:
Older children can put the pictures in order without the book or practice reading it themselves.
4. Magnetic Fishing Game
5. Collage bag:
Paper strips to practice ripping, glue stick, stickers and crayons
6. Mega Sketcher
7. "Things That Go" I Spy Book for toddlers
8. Egg carton with rainbow colours:
Use when you go on nature hunts try to find something that matches each colour. Or use around the house and sort anything you can find! We like using pom poms and the fake food in our kitchen set.
9. Red Fish, Red Fish felt board story:
Red fish, red fish what do you see? I see a ______ (insert colour here) fish looking at me. (Repeat with each colour)
10. Foam bugs and containter:
Practice transferring bugs into the container and sort by colour. You can also use the foam bugs as stickers and go on a bug hunt.
11. Mosaic Bottle Cap Magnets and cookie sheet:
To make your own collect your plastic bottle caps in different sizes and colours. Then hot glue magnets to the back of the bottle caps. Your child can sort by colour or make pictures with them.
