I'm Loving This: Breastfeeding Ad From Brazil

This is the latest breastfeeding public service ad from Brazil. Look at all aspects of the photo as it may not be what it initially appears to be.

Look closer! Do you see it now?! Can you believe it was flagged and removed from Facebook on the Crunchy Mommas International page for being too obsene? Seriously, it could not be any further from the truth!

Initially this ad is sexy but when you look closer you can see the innocence and beauty in it. I hope it will entice more people to breastfeed and change much of societies views on breastfeeding being "creepy". Afterall, breast milk is the liquid gold that was ment to nourish our babies and a mothers abilty to give her child this amazing gift of life should be celebrated.

Isn't this ad amazing?! I loooooove it! What do you think?

  1. I think this ad is unnecessarily provocative. It is NOT a breast, but it definitely LOOKS like a breast at first glance. I'm no prude, and I support breastfeeding, but I draw the line at putting a breast with a nipple in an ad. That may not TECHNICALLY be what this is, but it is certainly the intention to make it appear so in a casual glance.

  2. I live in Brazil and breastfeeding is so natural. A mother wouldn't even think of the option of formula unless the doctor told her that her milk was not enough. It isn't like the US where one choose and debate whether to formula feed. I formula fed and people thought I was a HORRIBLE mother and i have been criticized from many friends and family, but you have to do what is best for you!

  3. So...as soon as I looked at the picture I saw the little kids face...then the "boob shot"...maybe in a smaller picture you might think you are seeing a breast...which is obviously the point of the ad...funny how uptight people get about breast feeding and pics surrounding the topic...but pornography seems so talked about and mainstream...sad.

  4. I had to look at this a few times to really see it. Interesting ad.

  5. Well, I can tell it isn't a nipple... but I can't make it out on my laptop. Can you fill me in?

  6. fantastic.
I can't see why it was banned. some people have very odd ideas about natural feeding!!!

  7. This is so great! It took me like 3 minutes to see that it is a little baby face. I completely support breastfeeding and have had positive experiences with both kids. oh, ps, I am breastfeeding my 14-month old right now.

  8. I think breastfeeding would be more prevalent (thus healthier babies and moms and a better planet) if people didn't see breasts as a sexual object - rather for what they ARE - which is the tool to feed children and carry on the human race. I don't know if this ad helps or hinders that.

  9. It took me a good 3 or 4 minutes to realize what it is, but I think it's an awesome ad.

I definitely agree with Chelsea M. People need to stop looking at breasts from a sexual angle. Their sole purpose is to feed our children and that is how they should be portrayed.
