(K is currently 20 months old)
Over the past two weeks we've been fighting off colds and staying at home while it rained like crazy. But we've managed to have heaps of fun and keep super busy learning about body parts.
Today I'm going to share with you some of the fun activities that we've done but unfortunately I do not have pictures for all of them. K is currently going through a phase where every time I take the camera out he screams and throws a temper tantrum because HE wants to take the photos. Then if I let him near my camera he throws it on the floor and throws an even bigger temper tantrum. Could we be entering the terrible twos a wee bit early perhaps?! Thankfully, my camera still works but I'm now hiding it and hoping that this phase will pass quickly. I hope that you will enjoy this post and get some fun ideas for teaching your tots about their body despite the lack of pictures.
- Reading his personalized Head & Shoulders Book & learning the song
-Practice making faces and saying the parts of the face on his faces felt board
-Making faces for a snack on a rice cake with some cranberries (eyes, nose &mouth) and carrots (hair)
-Coloring and sticking faces onto punch balloons
-K had quite a good time with "punching practice" on his new punch balloon. This was his favorite activity all week. He just couldn't get enough of it! We also learned about static electricity by rubbing the balloon on our hair and making it stand up.
-We made paper plate faces
-We played with our DIY Stove
-We played with puppets. K likes to make them say "Hi" and then tickle mommy with them.
-Sidewalk chalk silouette art
-Making funny faces in the mirror and giggling. K has some good ones now from watching Yo Gabba Gabba while we've been sick. "Making Funny Faces is AWESOME!"
-We played "Mommy Says" (Also known as "Simon Says")
-Practicing our Exercise ABC flashcards
-We had a dance party and K learned how to jump, do handstands and show me his muscles (Thanks to the Wiggles). I cannot wait to get a photo of this!
-We sang songs from our Body Parts Song Book
-We practiced putting on lotion, washing our hands and brushing our teeth and teeth.
-K practiced putting clothes pins on the edges of a container
-K practiced putting pipe cleaners in a shaker
-We played a body parts sticker game and K had to put a sticker on the body part mommy asked. Then we put them in his sticker book.
We had a great time learning about body parts and its exciting for me to watch K learn so much new vocabulary.
