Top Wellbeing Tips for Busy Moms from The Wellbeing Blog

Hi Delicious Ambiguity readers, My name is Joanne and I am the owner of the Total Wellbeing Blog, with resources and information for all aspects of wellbeing and I am honoured to be able to share some top tips for all you moms who need to put yourself first!

5 Top Tips for Busy Moms

Most of us, especially busy Moms are finding life increasingly stressfull. We often feel we have to do everything perfectly and be all things to all people all of the time resulting in tiredness, low energy and unnecessary worry. Studies show that happier people do in fact live longer, not to mention enjoying life more day to day, so it's time to let go of being perfect and instead focus on ways that you can bring more peace and calm to your life without compromising your role as a loving mom.

Here are my top 5 tips to create more calm in your busy day:

1. Spend time with people you love
No really - I mean spend time with them, not just go through the motions of being in the same room. Stop worrying about what you have to do tomorrow or next week and instead focus on enjoying the present moment whether it's becoming absorbed in a game with your child, laughing with friends, sharing a romantic moment or a big hug with your partner - most of us are so busy thinking about what we have to do next, we forget to enjoy the 'now'.

2. Take some time to think about you
Are you just going through the motions and getting your daily chores done whilst neglecting the real you? What are your goals? What do you want to achieve? Take some time to think about yourself and how you can do the things you really want to do whether its joining an art class, starting your own blog, networking with others, taking an exercise class etc. - when you are happier, your family is happier so start putting yourself further up the priority list.

3. Create some order in your life
A cluttered environment means a cluttered mind. If there are areas of your home or life that have excess baggage that needs to be sorted, make a plan to tackle these a little at a time. Even just 10-15 minutes a day de-cluttering an area or sorting out some paperwork will make you feel so much better and is more manageable. Set a timer and get to work but stop when the timer is up. Little and often is the key here.

4. Keep a gratitude journal
When life is busy, taking a few minutes each evening or at the start of your day to focus on what you are grateful for can totally change your mindset. Buy yourself a pretty little notebook and write 5 things each day that you are grateful for, from your family and friends to enjoying a sunny day to your health - we all have so many things that we take for granted. A gratitude journal helps you focus on the positive things in life.

5. Treat yourself regularly
Make yourself a priority and stop being last on your list. Whether it's putting your feet up with a great magazine, a long hot bath or a more extravagant treat, your wellbeing deserves your attention as a priority. It doesn't have to be expensive but it definitely should feel indulgent :)
