Cushion Pit

My toddler K is very busy and doesn't like to sit still. It becomes really exhausting being stuck indoors when it is cold and raining or when it is too hot on summer afternoons to go outside. One of our favorite ways to burn off his enormous amount of energy is to make a cushion pit in the living room. I take all of the couch cushions and pillows off and make a big pile on the floor in the middle of the living room. He loves to climb onto the couch and jump into the pillows. He also loves hiding from me underneath the cushions. Surprisingly this can fill a great deal of time and the best part is it requires very little effort on my part.

So next time your toddler is driving you crazy, throw some cushions on the ground, pour yourself a hot cup of coffee, turn on Oprah and relax. Or if you are like me you can dive in with him! :)
